Alternative Schooling (home schooling, pods, etc.)

Public·13 members

My youngest is 16 and now in public high School with straight A’s and her older sister is freshman at large Midwestern state school on full academic scholarship. She got a 1380 on her SAT. Both are very independent and able to self direct their learning.

Both of my daughters were homeschooled until high school when they made the decision to enter public education. The program they used was. MOVING BEYOND THE PAGE. It is an excellent curriculum.

I hope I can be here with questions about the realities and add comfort to the good decision that homeschooling works and children are better for it.

my children are growing into very wonderful young adults.

It sounds like you did a wonderful job with them! I will also look into that curriculum recommendation. That's great.

Each state has different homeschooling regulations. Make sure you know the rules!

Here is the most comprehensive summary of each state I have found: Inside Homeschool Policy – Coalition for Responsible Home Education

CT has virtually no rules, while NY is much stricter. I am also looking into forming a Private Membership Association, which helps avoid potential state interference even further.
